It
is a common problem in the industry that data centre
professionals are expected to run data centre facilities
(sometime with help from building management people)
with little or no experience in that area. They
are expected to understand environmental controls,
power supplies, data communications and security
standards without first being given the proper training
on the requirements of today's IT equipment. In
many instances this has resulted in data centre
down times which lead to costly business interruptions.
